A building materials manufacturer in Sri Lanka contacted us while expanding its indoor production facility used for precast concrete and steel reinforcement processing. The company mainly supplies structural components for commercial construction projects and infrastructure contractors. As production demand increased, the customer realized their existing lifting arrangement could no longer support efficient vertical handling inside the workshop.
After reviewing the plant layout and production process, the client selected an LD type 10 ton single girder overhead crane equipped with an MD electric wire rope hoist to improve material transfer and reduce handling delays.
The workshop in Sri Lanka operates with a relatively narrow span but requires significant lifting height due to stacked material storage and tall production equipment. Before the crane installation, heavy molds and reinforcement assemblies were moved using forklifts combined with manual positioning methods.
The selected 10 ton overhead crane was designed specifically around these conditions. Although the span was only 8.7 meters, the required lifting height reached 18 meters because the customer used vertical storage racks and elevated curing platforms.
In practice, the crane now handles reinforcement bundles, steel molds, and concrete components throughout multiple stages of production.
The client focused on operational reliability and efficient use of workshop space rather than excessive automation. For this reason, the 10 ton single girder overhead crane was configured with durable and maintenance-friendly components.
After installation, the customer reported several operational improvements:
The compact structure of the 10 ton overhead crane also helped maintain open floor space for workers and transport equipment, which is particularly important in busy manufacturing workshops.
From the beginning, the customer in Sri Lanka provided detailed workshop dimensions and production flow information rather than only requesting a standard crane model. During communication, it became clear that lifting height was far more critical than span length.
We adjusted the hook travel configuration and reviewed the building clearance carefully to ensure the 10 ton single girder overhead crane could achieve the required vertical reach safely.
For shipment to Sri Lanka, the crane girder and runway components were separated into transport-friendly sections and protected with anti-corrosion treatment suitable for sea freight conditions.
The MD electric wire rope hoist and electrical components were packed in reinforced wooden crates with internal moisture protection. Clear labels and organized packing lists helped simplify unloading after arrival in Sri Lanka.
Installation was completed by the client’s local contractor team with remote support from our engineers. Due to the relatively straightforward LD structure, assembly progressed efficiently despite the limited workshop space.
After commissioning, the customer in Sri Lanka reported that the 10 ton single girder crane significantly improved production flow and reduced handling interruptions. Operators especially appreciated the smooth dual-speed lifting performance during mold positioning and material transfer.
As industrial and infrastructure development continues in Sri Lanka, many factories are upgrading material handling systems to improve efficiency and reduce manual labor. In this context, the 10 ton single girder overhead crane is widely used in manufacturing, construction materials, and maintenance industries.
In steel fabrication workshops, the 10 ton overhead crane is used to move steel plates, beams, and welded structures between production stations. It helps reduce forklift congestion and improves workflow inside compact workshops.
The precast and construction materials sector in Sri Lanka also relies on the 10 ton single girder overhead crane for handling concrete molds, reinforcement cages, and finished components. Its stable lifting performance supports continuous production processes.
In machinery repair workshops, the 10 ton overhead crane is commonly used to lift pumps, motors, and industrial equipment for maintenance work, improving safety and positioning accuracy.
Warehouses and logistics facilities in Sri Lanka also benefit from the 10 ton single girder crane, as it improves indoor material handling efficiency and space utilization.
